Autumn Coast Road Race - update - sent to entrants 3rd August 8.05pm
I am writing to let you know that Autumn Coast Road 5k (2nd September) will go ahead assuming that there is no deterioration to current Covid-19 levels.
In order to satisfy RunBritain Guidance and the Local Authority we have made several changes:
- Distance is now 3km (Certified Course) instead of 5km
- Time Trial Format ie we will start runners at 10 second intervals starting with fastest runner, finishing with the slowest to minimise overtaking.
- Event will start at 7pm (not 7:15)
- There will be no prizes, however all runners will receive a voucher for a post race drink at Redcar Rugby Club – there is a large outdoor area with well spaced picnic benches
- The Maximum number of runners will be 120
I have attached some more detailed information – which will be further updated in due course. Please read this and if you decide that the new format in not to your liking then please let me know by replying to this email and I will refund your entry. This will allow your place to be made availablr to others.
Cheers

Redcar Running Festival 2020- Cancelled - sent to entrants on 31st July 5.15pm
Despite our best efforts to make sure the 2020 Redcar Running Festival would go ahead; we have reluctantly had to cancel the event.
When we put the date back by a month it was to buy time before we had to make significant financial commitments. Now that month has passed and risks surrounding making those commitments have not improved. Indeed, as you will be aware, in some parts of the country the situation has got worse.
So what happens now?
We will automatically defer your entry to next year’s event on Sunday 3rd October 2021 – this will guarantee you place at the price you have already paid – these prices will not be available for 2021.
When entries for 2021 open you will automatically appear on the entry list and you will be sent a confirmation email.
If you would prefer a refund then please reply to this email and I will refund you via the EntryCentral system. The refund will be the amount that you paid less the EntryCentral processing fees which we cannot recover (4% or 50p min)
In association with RunClusive we set up a Virtual Redcar Run Fest, you can enter using the links below. Please note that there is no connection between these virtual events and the actual Redcar Running Festival.
Redcar Virtual 5K: https://www.runclusive.com/events/redcar-virtual-5k/
Redcar Virtual 10K: https://www.runclusive.com/events/redcar-virtual-10k/
Redcar Virtual Half Marathon: https://www.runclusive.com/events/redcar-virtual-half-marathon/
Redcar Virtual Marathon: https://www.runclusive.com/events/redcar-virtual-marathon/
As part of the attempt to go ahead this year we changed the half marathon course to a two lap one. We realised that the two laps could be easily doubled to provide an easily managed marathon course. So, with that in mind we are planning a Redcar Zetland Full and Half Marathon on Sunday 18th April 2021 – Covid-19 restrictions permitting of course.
So two dates to put in your 2021 diary are:
Sunday 18th April – Redcar Zetland Full and Half Marathon.
Sunday 3rd October – Redcar Running Festival

Redcar Running Festival - Covid 19 Update - sent to entrants on 24th June 9pm
In an attempt to ensure the 2020 Redcar Running Festival will go ahead we have made some changes.
We have changed the date to 25th October 2020 ie 4 weeks later. We hope that this will buy us time and that the Covid 19 restrictions will have eased enough for us to go ahead.
We have also decided to change the Half Marathon course to a 2 lap one using the the Coast Road to Marske section (and omitting the Trunk Road Section). This will help protect the financial viability of the event.
As a results of the course change the race timetable will also change, provisionally as follows:
9:15 2k Fun Run
9:40 Half Marathon
9:50 5k
10:05 10k
Of course we still can't be sure that we will be able to go ahead, and if we do have to cancel due extended Covid 19 restrictions (or if you are unable to attend the new date) you will be able to have your entry deferred to next year or refunded (the refund amount will be the total entry fee paid less the EntryCentral processing charge included in that fee, which we can’t recover).
Cheers

Due to the coronavirus situation and England Athletics updated advice stating that all athletics activity should be suspended at least until 31st May we have cancelled this race,
What are we doing with your entry?
Our default position is to defer your entry to 2021 which means you have a guaranteed place and no further charge.

I will refund anyone who emails a request, the amount will be the total entry fee paid less the EntryCentral processing charge included in that fee, which we can’t recover.
Typically this fee is 50p for EA registered and 56p for unregistered.

Coast Road Race Cancellation Info - Email sent 3:30pm 17th March
Due to the coronavirus situation we have no option except to cancel the first two races of the Coast Road Race Series. This is also in accordance with England Athletics updated advice.
Please read the rest of this email carefully so you don’t email me to ask a question that is already answered!
For the avoidance of doubt, the Mermaid 10k (10th April) and Spring Coast Road 5k (28th April) are cancelled and will not be re-arranged.
Entries for the Everyone Active 10k (14th June) and Summer Coast Road 5k (15th July) have been suspended and will either re-open or be cancelled depending on how the situation develops.
What are we doing with your entry?
The situation is complicated by the fact we have some (most) people that have entered all five races as a series and received a discount whilst others have entered on a race by race basis.
Our default position is to defer your entry to 2021 which means you have a guaranteed place and no further charge. This gives you full value and me least work!
I will refund anyone who emails a request, the amount as per the table below ie the total entry fee paid less the EntryCentral processing charge included in that fee, which we can’t recover.
Those runners that have entered the whole series will need to enter the remaining individual races should we re-open entries. I will email you in advance on a race by race basis ahead of re-opening so that you are best placed to get an entry ahead of others.
Note if you have an entry originally purchased by someone else the refund will be to their card, not yours.

Harry Gamble-Thompson 20Ten - Entrant Information email sent 6:55pm 1st March
Hi %FIRST_NAME% %LAST_NAME%
RACE BIB NUMBER: %BIB_NUMBER%
Thank you for entering the Harry Gamble-Thompson 20Ten. Harry was a long time member and chairman of New Marske Harriers and previously a member of Middlesbrough & Cleveland Harriers. His forte was the the Marathon and other long distance races. He is ranked 12th UK All Time for his 2:32:10 Marathon at London in 1982. Harry passed away on the eve of this race last year - so it is a fitting tribute to him that the race is named in his memory.
At the entrance to the park you can see the Memorial Benches - one for Harry and the other for Jim & Anne Reilly of Redcar Running Club who were long time supporters of athletics and indeed of this event in its early years.
Harry, Jim & Anne between them gave the sport nearly 200 years of service as competitors, technical and club officials. They are much missed.
Please use one of these links word version or pdf version to access details for Sunday's event. Please read carefully - it includes information such as where to park, where and when to collect your number from. Please note there are a few changes from previous years so don't assume
Please visit our partner results site where the race result including your individual mile splits will be available after the race.
Please be aware that a junior parkrun in the park before the race - 9am start. If you have children with you on Sunday, provided they are registered with parkrun they will be able take part.
Finally, if you are unable to run on Sunday and you know someone that you want to use your number then you can transfer the entry - but transfers can only made by emailing me (no charge).
Currently there is a short waiting list, if you wish to transfer to someone on the waiting list I will re-fund your fee less our un-recoverable processing fees.
Finally if you are aware of anyone that is able to marshal for some of the duration - especially from 12 noon then please let me have their contact details.

Hi
I am sending this email as you have entered the New Marske Harriers Spring Coast Road 5k due to be held on Wednesday 29th April, either as an individual race entry or as part of a series entry.
Due to the Tour de Yorkshire cycling event stage finish at Redcar, there will be a road closure affecting the Coast Road from Redcar to Marske for 2 days starting 29th April 9am onwards. This is to allow preparations that will include erecting large screens and caravan on or near our running route.
Whilst it may have been possible to devise a route to avoid any obstructions, there would still be some uncertainties.
The decision has therefore been made to bring forward the race by 24 hours to Tuesday 28th April.
Hopefully most people have no issues arising with the change, and for those that do, there is sufficient notice to make any alternative arrangements to allow you to run.
If you are unable to attend on the new date – please contact me as soon as you can:
Cheers
Graham
